Shipping Container Featured in Movies, Television Shows, and Video Games
Shipping container have changed the world since its inception. It has reshaped the shipping industry and its influence on logistics is unquestionable.

1) The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Produced by the ever popular Marvel Studios and set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in Episode 3 of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson, along with Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier), Sharon Carter, and Helmet Zemo, arrived in Madripoor, a fictional corrupted country loosely based on Indonesia and Singapore.
After a series of events, the characters ended up in a Secret Lab Container at the Madripoor shipyard, where Doctor Wilfred Nagel, the evil scientist who rebuilt the Super Soldier Serum, is secretly hiding in.
The characters ended up in an epic gun fight around the shipyard filled with containers, which resulted in the epic showcase of shipping containers being exploded and destroyed as well.

Alongside the main events happened in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the producers of Marvel Studios created a fictional tourism website for Madripoor as well. When you go to “book a charter” at Buccaneer Bay on the website, you’ll be taken to a page with an image of the container yard from Episode 3. Upon accessing the code “Power Broker”, it will be directed to a container yard “e-platform” where you can search for containers using an container ID. Upon typing in the code 4261, the container lab Dr. Nagel was in will show up. This will also bring up spray painted images of the main characters, and security footage of the fight that took place in the container yard in episode 3.

2) Step Up Revolution
The third movie in the Step Up series, Step Up Revolution takes place in Miami, Florida, close to the Port of Miami. In the 2012 dance film, Miami’s “MOB” dance crew protests the destruction of their beloved neighborhood by putting up an elaborate dance performance scaling the likes of stacked shipping containers. Aside from using containers as their backdrop and stage, the dance crew also leaped and danced from one container to another via trampolines.

3) Tron: Legacy
Tron: Legacy takes place in a futuristic world, The main protagonist of the film, Sam Flynn, lives in a group of shipping containers that have been converted into his very own home and garage with automatic sliding door. The container-house serves as a creative way to repurpose used shipping containers.

4) Spider-Man: Homecoming
After a battle with the Vulture, Spiderman became accidentally locked in onto one of the trucks headed to the facility. When he woke up, he found himself locked in Damage Control vault. While waiting for the next morning till the door opens again, he hangs out among the shipping containers as he explores his suit’s powers.


5) Container Wars
Taking place at commercial shipping ports, the series revolve on a group of experts from various backgrounds who spend tens of thousands of dollars to compete for the contents of high-value shipping containers from around the world. With only minutes to assess the containers and decide whether to bid, the pressure mounts as they walk away with big wins or go home empty-handed.

6) Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Shipping Containers are a common feature in the game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as it provides excellent coverage and military realism for the players and map modifiers.

7) PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds)
Shipping Containers are also commonly featured in the game PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds). In Georgopol, a city featured in the game’s main map Erangel, consist of a shipping yard filled with shipping containers stacked along side each other, which became a favourite drop zone for many players.

8) Hanna
The movie follows Hanna, an assassin raised in the wilderness, in a journey to escape from being hunted down by the corrupted CIA. In one scene, Hanna got herself ambushed in the movie in a container park, at night. The shipping containers feature heavily in this section of the movie as props for Hanna to escape the bad guys, before she runs in between smaller stacked of the shipping containers to hide. She then jumps on top of the stacks to run away, using the containers being moved to eventually escape.


9) Crazy Rich Asians
Nick Young, along with his to-be-married best friend, Colin, is invited to the latter’s Bachelor Party planned by Colin’s friend, Bernard. The party is held on an actual cargo ship, with shipping containers repurposed into a stage, private rooms, a basketball court, and swimming pools. The director explains that because the movie is set in Singapore, he decided to pay homage to the numerous container ships waiting to come in or to go from Singapore, a significant attribute to Singapore’s economy.
