More about Open Top Container
Akin to standard ISO shipping containers, open top containers are made of durable steel or aluminum. Other than carrying oversized goods, an open top container is also preferred when loading through the regular door isn’t practical. Its open top allows for easy loading and unloading of bulk cargo from above by a crane. The tarpaulin as mentioned earlier can be secured to the top of the container with ropes, and that provides protection against inclement weather.
However, open top containers are rarer to find in the market right now. Hence, it will be more expensive than other standard containers. When it comes to transport, the prices will vary as well. If the goods inside the open top container are over the roof, the shipping prices will increase. Lastly, open top containers can’t be stacked, which in turn may cost more in terms of logistics.
