7 Repurposed Shipping Container Structure To Check Out in Singapore

Despite having one of the most famous ports in the world, it is not as common to find repurposed shipping containers anywhere else in Singapore, aside from being utilised as Office Containers or Toilet Containers at building or construction sites. However, there are a few creatively modified containers around Singapore that you can probably check out during the weekends or your free time, possibly even pose for photos with.
S.E.A. Focus Curated 2021
S.E.A. Focus Curated is a physical gallery of selected works from all participating exhibitors. Located at Tanjong Pagar Distripark, it is designed for visitors in Singapore. It provides meaningful encounters with Southeast Asia through art: an ever-dynamic region that is home to a confluence of ancient cultures and manifold histories.

Social Entrepreneurship and Eco-park Development
(Punggol East Container Park)
Located in the North East region of Singapore, this container park was constructed for a good purpose!
It is an initiative by Social Innovation Park (SIP) to create a more inclusive and sustainable world. Each f container bistro carries a social mission and unique concept.

The Deck is a dedicated gallery space by Art Photography Centre Ltd, located in the center region of Singapore for contemporary photography. The site was activated and meant to be a temporary structure composed of 20 repurposed shipping container. It also has a cafe right beneath the containers. However, the iconic gallery space is due to be demolished by March 2021.

Shipping Container Hotel
Shipping Container Hotel is Singapore’s first pop-up hotel. It aims to provide a unique hotel experience in “luxury living off the grid”. It also aims to place the hotel containers in multiple places that appeal to an “off-grid” living style of staycation.

First launched in 2018, The Gym Pod is Singapore’s first 24 hours automated container gym. Repurposed from shipping containers, these container gyms come with glass windows, air-conditioning, and modern gym equipment. It is not located in multiple locations in Singapore.

Art Encounters is an annual mobile artist’s studio and gallery housed in repurposed shipping container that is designed to travel to special sites around Singapore, featuring artists creating site-specific installations that reveal their artmaking process to the public.
